TikTok’s Makeup Filter that Teaches You How to Apply Makeup

TikTok has a couple of filters that teach people how to apply makeup professionally to accentuate the contours of their faces, depending on their shape. These effects use motion capture to detect the location of eyes, nose, ears, mouth, etc., and indicate exactly what type of makeup should be applied in some specific areas.

The filters called «My Face Shape» and «Match Stix Snatch», both created by beauty and skincare content creator, Grace Choi (gracemchoi on TikTok), should be used together so that the makeup experience is the most suitable for people interested in accentuating the shape of their face. Both are freely accessible, and it’s trendy on ByteDance’s social network due to how it helps people find the most suitable makeup for them.

The usage form in both cases is straightforward since «My Face Shape» helps identify the person’s basic face shape, while «Match Stix Snatch» contains the primary makeup function, although without prior knowledge of the face shape, mistakes may be made, and the required makeup may not be applied to achieve the desired results.

To use them, search for each filter by name. The first, «My Face Shape,» fixes people’s faces within a white outline and places buttons with different geometric shapes on the top left of the outline. Each of these shapes will help users identify the type of face they have.

Once the face shape has been identified, proceed to the next filter, «Match Stix Snatch,» which presents the same face shapes but instead of an outline, displays different marks on the person’s face, who will have to choose the type of shape they have to begin applying the corresponding makeup.

The pink lines shown on the filter correspond to the face’s contour to highlight the favorite features of people, while those with a lighter tone are the areas where the illuminator and concealer should be applied to highlight people’s attributes, such as their nose, expression lines around the mouth, the contour of the eyes, among others.

Once all the makeup has been applied to the face, people should mix the products so that they match the desired tones until the final result is satisfactory, and the presence of the products is not noticeable by excess application.

At the end, people can add mascara, lipstick, gloss, mascara, eyeliner, among other additional details to complete their makeup. None of these filters make a difference between skin tones since each person will apply the most suitable product for their skin type, thus avoiding excessive differences between the areas where the products were applied and those where they were not.

The creator of these TikTok filters also created other versions for skincare and beauty product application such as eyeliner, cheek contour, skincare routine application, among others.
