Inameh Advises That Heat will Persist for 7-10 More Days
As Venezuela faces high temperatures in recent days, José Pereira, president of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh), warns that the heat will persist for another 7-10 days.
Pereira reports that the Llanera zone has recorded temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius, while the capital zone reached 34 degrees Celsius last Tuesday, and Carabobo and Falcón reached 38. Barcelona and Maturín are nearing 37 degrees Celsius.
This time of year typically sees temperature increases due to direct exposure to the sun, specifically in late April and early May, explains Pereira. 15 days ago, there was cloud cover and a line of bad weather over the Caribbean Venezuelan region, which mitigated the high temperatures at the time. But presently, the country is witnessing «a lot of atmospheric stability» with slight concentrations of Sahara dust, according to the president of Inameh.
