NBA coach Nick Nurse has left the Toronto Raptors after five years as head coach, and as an assistant coach from 2013 to 2018. Although he still had a year left on his contract, the team has chosen to let him go, and it is now rumored that Ime Udoka could take his place. The 55-year-old Nurse was appointed coach after Dwane Casey’s departure in 2018, and led the Raptors to an NBA title in 2019, and named Coach of the Year in 2020. Over five seasons he won a total of 227 games and lost 163 during the regular season, with a 25-16 record in the playoffs. During the 2022-23 season, the Raptors made it to the playoffs but lost to the Chicago Bulls. Raptors’ president Masai Ujiri acknowledged the difficulty of the decision, noting that such changes are never easy for any party involved. Nurse is rumored to have already received offers from other teams, including the Houston Rockets, so it remains to be seen where he will end up next.
