Guillermo Quiroz reaches 100 wins as a manager in MiLB
Guillermo Quiroz, the former Venezuelan catcher, achieved his first 100 victories as a minor league manager in the triumph of the Winston-Salem Dash, the Chicago White Sox’s advanced Class-A affiliate, last Wednesday by a score of 12-7 over the Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets) at the Dash’s home field, Truist Stadium.

More than 2,000 fans, exactly 2,347, witnessed the Venezuelan coach and his pupils celebrate the milestone at Winston-Salem Stadium, and Joander Suarez, a native of Cumana, Venezuela, took the win in relief, emphasizing the presence of other Venezuelans participating in the accomplishment.
It is noteworthy that the North Carolina-based club, which earned another victory on Thursday night, began the South Atlantic League season with a 3-1 record, holding second place in the northern division, one game behind the Tampa Bay Rays’ Bowling Green Hot Rods (4-0) in the category.
Started his coaching career in 2018
Guillermo Quiroz, who currently is 41 years old, began his coaching career in Chicago’s South Side organization in 2018. He was acting as a coach at Omar Vizquel’s A+ location before becoming a Triple-A Charlotte batting coach the following year. The Minor League season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Therefore, in 2021, Quiroz was appointed manager of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in Low-A who he led both seasons to negative balances, finishing 12th and 9th in their circuit, respectively, but earning 98 victories, 40 in his first year, followed by 58 last season, launching his career as a strategist.
With Quiroz, Winston-Salem’s winning record adds to his 100 career wins, a success worth celebrating. Quiroz is a well-recognized figure in the organization of the White Sox, who always demonstrates leadership for his players, aspiring to achieve his feats along with the best for his team.
