PNB captures criminal leader known as “Cara e’ Muerto” in Colón municipality

During a search and capture operation, officers from the Division Against Organized Crime of the Bolivarian National Police neutralized an armed criminal known as “Cara e’ Muerto”, leader of a delinquent gang that has been terrorizing the population of the South Lake of Maracaibo. The attacker opened fire on the officers without warning, causing them to return fire.

The attacker, identified as Humberto José Barrios Ibáñez, was wounded in the incident. Authorities provided first aid and brought him to local health center CDI El Moralito, where he was later pronounced dead. At the scene of the incident, officers collected as evidence the firearm used by the subject, a .38 caliber revolver, as well as two fired cartridges and two unfired ones. The case was reported to the Public Ministry.
